Wrightsville Beach Is Back! Mason Inlet Cruise

Wrightsville Beach Is Back! Mason Inlet Cruise

Saturday, October 13, 2018

Food, fun and exploration of changes in Mason Inlet due to Hurricane Florence!

Before dinner, 25 Members & Guests jumped in 3 boats and cruised north on the Intracoastal Waterway.

Underway

First stop was the spoil pond where the Intracoastal Waterway intersects Mason Inlet.  The bank of the pond eroded away from the heavy rains and the pond is now connected to the Intracoastal Waterway.

 Spoil Pond

As we headed toward Mason Inlet from the Intracoastal Waterway we took advantage of a new channel to head up north along the back channel of Figure 8 Island.  The channel was dug out by the storm and it is now easier to cut through the Mason Inlet area to go to Figure 8.

Now headed back toward the Intracoastal Waterway, a large sailboat was resting on its side in the marsh.

 Grounded Sailboat

After arriving back at the marina, we walked over to Blue Water Restaurant where we finished the evening and enjoyed a wonderful dinner outside on their deck!
