Holiday Sleighride Event Recap

15 “boat-loads” of Boat Club members and their loved ones joined us for our first ever holiday boating “Sleigh Rides!”. Even for our youngest members, it was quite the memorable experience.

On Friday and Saturday, November 27th & 28th, our sleigh rides left the marina at 96 W. Salisbury St., went under the bridges and south on Banks Channel towards the US Coast Guard Station. There we viewed dozens of brightly decorated docks which were entered in the NC Holiday Flotilla dock decorating contest. This contest was held in the place of the traditional Holiday Flotilla.

The cruises lasted roughly forty-five minutes and included seeing many of the beautifully decorated docks, and boats located in, and along Banks Channel. After 15 successful cruises and more than 90 Boat Club members joining us, the reviews of the event were outstanding.

“Another wonderful Boat Club outing! Thanks for starting off the holiday season in such a fun way! The weather was beautiful, moonlight on the water was gorgeous and Darren did a fantastic job of captaining us around to see the lights at Wrightsville. Truly a memorable evening!”

“Marty and his crew at Sea Gate Boating provided a great alternative to the annual flotilla. Along with out of town family and guests we were very happy with the experience of a beautiful evening on the water looking at the docks decorated for Christmas.”
