Lea Island Excursion 9/13/17

Lea Island Adventure Recap

This trip was the definition of a good time! Our timing could not have been better. After the substantial storm surge from Irma, we decided to take advantage and do some shelling. We loaded up the Nautic Star 230 Blue and Nautic Star 231 Angler and headed up to Green Channel to teach the crew how to navigate the tricky route to Lea Island. One of the most beautiful spots around, Lea Island’s is one of North Carolina’s most beautiful barrier islands. The dunes and beaches are a true gems.  There are no bridges, roads, nor houses. We’re so lucky we can access it with just a half-hour boat ride!. The tide was perfect as it was high enough to navigate safely but low enough to expose tons of great shells. The whole crew spent an hour socializing and searching. Steve Diffley took home the sand dollar prize and Marty came across a live horseshoe crab! We had a fantastic time with everyone and were thrilled with the enthusiastic response. We’ll certainly be doing more of these in the future!
